Begin your yacht charter by boarding in the "city by the sea," Newport, Rhode Island. With a variety of activities to choose from, there's something for everyone. Stroll along the Cliff Walk and tour the beautiful 19th century mansions, or catch a polo match during the summer's International Polo Series. In the evening, relax on the aft deck with a glass of wine and watch the sun drop behind the picturesque Pell Bridge; the colors of the sky will take your breath away.
Depart Newport for a morning cruise to beautiful Block Island. With over 17 miles of pristine beaches featuring spectacular bluffs, Block Island is a family favorite. Anchor at the Great Salt Pond and tender ashore to explore on bicycles. Make sure to check out the 150-year-old lighthouse on the southwest corner of the island.
Cruise from Block Island to Cuttyhunk, the westernmost in the chain of islands on your way east to Nantucket. Head to shore and hike to the highest point of the island, Lookout Hill, for a spectacular view of the archipelago. In the evening, enjoy a fabulous dinner prepared by the yacht's chef all the while enjoying the company of your family and friends.
After a morning swim, depart Cuttyhunk for Edgartown, on Martha's Vineyard. An elegant port, as well as the Vineyard's oldest and wealthiest town, Edgartown is the summer holiday destination for many of America's most notable figures- including the President. Spend the day at South Beach and enjoy the rolling sand dunes or try your hand at surfing. In the evening, dine ashore at one of the many popular restaurants, enjoying a world famous clambake of succulent Maine lobster, clams, oysters and other local seafood.
From Martha's Vineyard it's a short two-hour cruise to Nantucket, the center of the world's whaling industry during the early-to mid-1800s. Today, Nantucket's population includes its fashionable summer residents, itinerant yachtsmen and numerous seasonal tourists. Stroll along the cobblestone streets and make sure to stop by the whaling museum where you can pick up your own copy of "In The Heart Of The Sea," the true story behind the fictional Moby Dick character. Walking along the streets of Nantucket will bring the story to life.
In the morning depart for Hyannis. As the center of Cape Cod, the town is packed with restaurants and shops. Tender ashore for a lively sightseeing tour and in the late afternoon head for Hadley's Harbor, a deep-water anchorage at Woods Hole. Take a dip in the water, or have your crew teach you how to waterski. Enjoy dinner on the sundeck in the warm summer air.
After breakfast, lift anchor for the return cruise to Newport. Walk along the waterfront enjoying the sights and sounds of this enchanting New England town. As your yacht charter vacation comes to an end, reminisce on the memories you've created and look forward to your next yachting adventure. We hope you had a great time!
