Marty was born in Lansing, Michigan, and moved to St. Petersburg when he was 8. Every summer his family would return to Bay View where they owned a cottage. It was there that he developed a love for the water, learning to sail on Lake Traverse Bay. That love for the water continued growing up in Florida as he spent hundreds of hours on the water, fishing, skiing, scuba diving and cruising on the Gulf Coast. Marty has personally owned boats ranging from 18 feet to his most recent boat of 32 feet. His passion for the water is shared by his wife Ana, of 34 years, their three children and their grandchildren.
As a USCG licensed captain Marty currently holds a 50-ton Masters License with a Commercial Towing Endorsement and recently served as a relief Captain and First Mate on a 125-passenger vessel out of John's Pass.
In 2009, Marty retired with the rank of Captain from a 35-year career in law enforcement at the Pinellas County Sheriff's office. His love for the water brought him to TGYG, where he is involved in the sale of both brokerage and Cobalt Boats. He looks forward to finding the right boat for his clients so they can enjoy boating just as much as he does.
