The 26th Annual Spring Old Salt King of the Beach Tournament took place Saturday, May 4th. This is one of the two major kingfish tournments that the Old Salt Foundation puts on annually. The mission of the Foundation is “To create, protect and promote recreational fishing opportunities for Florida anglers and their families.” Old Salt supports the development of sound fisheries science & conservation policies, youth & family outreach and angler education.
This is the first year Team TGYG has partnered with Everglades Boats and fished the King of the Beach Tournement. It was a successful day for the team, catching their biggest kingfish at 6:15am. The fish weighed in at 25.99 lbs, earning Team TGYG 22nd place out of over 700 boats. The Everglades 355CC kept up with some of the leading tournament fishing boats in the area and ran a smooth 58-mph the entire 30 miles back to the weigh-in.
Team TGYG is looking forward to fishing the tournament again this fall!
